Get Ready For The Resident Evil Overload!

Well hello there folks!

Yes, I've been on hiatus since my last post about a month ago, but here I am to drop some movie news, trailers, whatever that interests me. On that note, it should interest you as well!

The San Diego Comic Con happened a couple of weeks ago, and no, before you jump with curiosity, I did not go. However, the internet has been alive with news on all sorts of information concerning movies that I am ultra hype about!

Unfortunately, I will not talk about those films now as I do not have enough credible information, mainly video, to show so I rave about these other films. I know, booooo!

Fear not, however, as I will talk a bit about a certain franchise that will have a huge release during the months of September and October!

Know what it is? I kind of gave it away already. Doh!

Either way, those of you out there who know me very well, know what I'm getting at. Here's a hint.

That's right, Folks. It's Resident Evil. Now, I've been a huge Resident Evil fan since I played the original PSX Resident Evil over 12 years ago, hmm, it's probably more like 15 years ago. Ahh, I've lost count. Anyway, I've played them all - just about - but I've played every core game and side iteration that appeared of my all time favorite zombie and B.O.W. shooter.

So, with that being said, I'm really excited about Resident Evil 6 which will be arriving on October 2, 2012. There is a lot happening with this game that I am eager to try out and rest assured that I'll have something to say about it after I've maliciously neutralized zombies and whatever other mutated baddie that crosses my path.

The above trailer is an older version which shows the release date in November, but trust me it's coming out 10/2/2012. However, it does show the three primary campaign characters and the grand scale of each scenario.

Below is the Comic Con trailer. While it is smaller in length, it does show more of that creepy atmosphere we've enjoyed from the original games and the return of an old foe.

It's the Yawn from Resident Evil 1! The huge snake reappears in RE6; although he looks more menacing, it'll be fun to fight him again. I hope this means that maybe there will be a few surprise appearances by some old foes, namely: Hunters, Tyrants! Only time will tell.

I'm going into any detail about the gameplay mechanics here, but you can find it and more demo videos on the campaigns from Comic Con on Youtube.

Next, RE6 doesn't come out until October, but before that two Resident Evil movies will be released to keep us satiated until then.

Milla Jovovich returns to reprise her role as Alice in Resident Evil: Retribution 3D. I don't care for the 3D element, but it's good to see a new film in the RE movie franchise. By the looks of the trailer below, we're all going to get our heads turned upside down.

None of it was real! The events of RE1, Apocalypse, Extinction and Afterlife were implanted into her mind! Oh, man, I think we will all got mind-jacked or perhaps Inception reaches far beyond what Leonardo DiCaprio could have ever imagined. Either way, this new entry looks like it will definitely entertain and keep us on our seats. I mean, Leon S. Kennedy finally makes his screen debut along with the lovely and mysterious Ada Wong. I'm hyped I tell you!!!

The one element of the film that I'm a bit unhappy about is the fact that the trailer shows a big Licker causing mayhem. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the picture of the monster above. I can't tell you how tired I am of the Licker B.O.W. monster(s) showing up in every movie. Geez, Paul W. S.  Anderson, I know you wrote each of those scripts, but give some other monsters from the RE universe a chance to live on screen.

I'm hoping that since this film is taking the position that none of the other films happened then maybe we'll see some other monsters appear or reappear! A Hunter, Tyrant, Nemesis... a big snake or shark! Please!!

Anyway, I'm still hyped for Resident Evil: Retribution 3D which hits theaters September 14, 2012!

Finally, back in 2008, Capcom released a full-length CGI RE movie entitled Resident Evil: Degeneration. Despite the fact the movie had its flaws it was still enjoyable. Seeing a fully rendered CG Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, two of the game series' most memorable characters, fighting zombies and monsters was pure bliss. Then two years ago, the internet world was feed a teaser trailer for a new CGI full-length movie. It showed Leon, again, this time in a crumbling city fighting against Lickers. Yup, dammit, even here!

Okay, before I lose it. At Comic Con they released a new trailer for upcoming sequel titled Resident Evil: Damnation.

Oh those Lickers. You just can't get enough of them even though I keep hoping that a Hunter will show up. At least, we get a fully CG rendered Ada Wong now! This movie will not hit theaters, but it will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 24, 2012.

Well, Resident Evil will own the months of September and October on both your home consoles and on the small and big screen.

I can't wait. I'm literally going to burst into flames from the sensory overload of Resident Evil goodness. Or, I'm going to fall ill from infection by the T, G, T-Veronica, Las Plagas, Oroborous or the new C virus! Damn how many viruses has Umbrella created?

Stayed tuned folks as I reveal more information surrounding those other film trailers that were showcased at Comic Con. When I get more news on them, or course!

And, keep your eyes pealed for my massive look into the Resident Evil game and movie franchises. Whenever I get around to compiling that beast.

Until then.

Resident Evil 6 Official Trailer!

Oh. My. Lord!

It hasn't been ten minutes since I posted my last blog entry on Resident Evil: Retribution, and now I see the official trailer for Resident Evil 6 the game.

I have now officially gone off the deep end.

After the mediocre RE5, I was left wanting something more substantial, new...something with elements that reminded me of what scared and thrilled me about the early games. Way back when, I read rumors that RE6 was to be a reboot of sorts. It would continue to progress later into the RE universe, but it would also implement the use of creepy atmospheric settings that we all enjoyed when we played through RE 1, 2 and 3.

What am I talking about? Raccoon City, or some similar setting. Personally, while I played RE 4 and adored the new game play and the 3rd person behind the back camera angle, the lack of a city setting made it feel strange for me. Don't get me wrong, it was great.

However, it was feeling less like Resident Evil and more like an action/shooter game. RE5 is a clear indication of this.

Anyway, no more talk. Just Enjoy what I believe will be a return to Resident Evil roots. I am really so damn excited and I can't contain my enthusiasm!

I know a lot of what I'm saying may be difficult to understand for non-Resident Evil game fans, but this is impressive. From what I can tell so far, the setting seems to be in a city, a large city at that. Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield for the most part are the primary characters. Again, it is still too early to tell what the story is behind this new chapter and who the real enemy is. Umbrella, Tricell or some other new entity.

One definite plus is that it looks like I'll be walking through long, dark and scary corridors again...and ZOMBIES are back! I just hope that some old Umbrella beasties return as well. A Tyrant here, a Hunter there. Come on, Capcom, do it for me!

More to come when I find or stumble upon it!

Until then, spread the 'Evil' - Resident Evil 6 is almost here!

New Resident Evil Game Announced by Capcom!

Hey, All!

Most of you know that I'm a huge zombie fan, and that I have been a huge follower of the Resident Evil game franchise. So, when I heard the Capcom will be releasing a new game for PS3, 360 and PC, my reaction was YES! When I found out it will take place in my favorite secluded urban setting of Raccoon City, I giggled with joy at the idea of revisiting that ill-fated city.

The name of this addition to the RE franchise is: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Capcom released a press note that revealed certain details about this new game. It will be third person perspective, you operate has either part of an Umbrella sanitation unity or U.S. military unit and the time line places the game during RE 2 and RE 3.

Ahh, why tell you about, I'll just post a link below to their website:

Capcom Reveals New Resident Evil Game!

I'm very excited to play a new RE game that takes place in good old Raccoon City. At this point, more information is still yet to be released but it should be interesting to see what game modes and objectives will be added to the newest entry.

I read also that game will be centered around coop interaction and game play that is similar to Left 4 Dead. There's even a teaser trailer that was released that gives us a view at what we might expect from this zombie infested piece of goodness!

Trailer below.

Dead Island - This Made Me Emotional Today

Hey, all, I know it's been a while since my last post!

***You can watch the trailer below either before reading on or after what I have written. Cheers!***

It's very rare that something makes me a little, or so teary eyed that I would go ahead and write something about it. It feels like I need to, what we call in Spanish desahogar me, or vent to get it out of my system.

As most of you out there who have read my posts know, and I want to thank you, I am a huge fan of zombie movies, books and games. I can go into a long discussion of which games I like and have played. But, the larger element that always held my imagination, curiosity and emotional state of mind is the human condition.

These stories, movies or games may be examples of survival horror, action or comedy, but, of my preferred collection they all had one thing in common - people, the characters were always affected emotionally and psychologically.

That was the gripping state of mind that always captured my curiosity and my sentimental side. I dare say that there were moments that I did cry when a character died, or he or she watched another, most likely a loved one, die right before their eyes. I felt fear or impending doom when the narrator of my treasured book, or the lead character(s) of my movie or game realized that there was no going back and that they were going to die after all.

Brain Keene's Dead series, all three of them, had moments that brought tears to my eyes, or made think Christ all mighty that was a horrible way to go! My favorite games, the Resident Evil series, only the ones that placed you within that fictional secluded mid-western town of Raccoon City, gave me moments of morbid guilt or pity. It's the scattered notebooks, Man! You know, the ones left behind by the once inhabitants of that fated town. George Romero's ORIGINAL Dawn of the Dead was built on the human interaction element that would ultimately lead to their confrontation and demise. Well, we don't know if Fran and Peter did survive after they flew away, but you get the picture. Even AMC's The Walking Dead had plenty of those moments, and I raved about how good that was!

So, what got me all teary eyed this time? Well, it was the cinematic trailer for the video game Dead Island. Game trailers for zombie games never made me so emotional. They made me excited, but never emotional. There was something about the way this trailer was put together that was both brilliant in design/editing and story that gripped my heart and wouldn't let it go because you knew where it was rewinding to. I say rewinding because the trailer runs backward from the end, with moments of forward running scenes to depict the sad story of the family in the trailer. I hope this made sense, but you'll see in the trailer below soon enough.

And, the additional element that gave the trailer an even sadder revelation was the piano and violin theme that played in the background. From the moment it starts playing and we look into that little girl's eye, we know a tragic tale is about to unfold before us. The other moment is when the trailer is rewinding through the scene where the father had rescued his daughter and we're seeing what happened to her. There's a moment where the video rewinds to the point where he begins to reach out for her and you can see the expression and emotion on his face as it slowly crawls to black. That moment was so gripping for me that I felt my heart thump hard and my tears swelled up in my eyes. It one of those moments where a million words could describe it, but none can capture that emotion just right.

I probably sound like a big cry baby! Ha!

It makes me think about my life and all the things I have lost or fought and struggled hard to achieve, and in the blink of an eye they were taken from me. My life is full of struggles and complications just like anyone else out there in this crazy mixed up reality we call life. I've had my share of joys and sorrows. I brought joy to others be it family, friends or special people in my life. Often times it didn't last, for a multitude of reasons, but I tried to hold on, to fight for it, even though I knew it was a losing battle and it was doing me more harm then good. Yet, I tried to hold on in hopes that something was still there, like standing by that bus stop for something that might never come or releasing that door nob ever so slowly in hopes that someone would open it after you. It just like that father fighting desperately to get to his daughter, taking her, but still somehow realizing that it was too late.

Como decirle a alguien que te quiero y te extraño , pero sabiendo que la persona no puede sentir lo mismo. Y sigo luchando por ti, pero no se porque.

Ah Zombie Books, Movies and Games!! Why do you bring us such climatic action and carnage only to leave us with despair and moments of deep sadness and heartfelt pain. On the other hand, that just means that it was a good thought provoking read, or a well crafted and engaging story, game or movie!

Well, that's enough of me talking. Go watch the trailer below, unless you have do so already in which case - WATCH IT AGAIN!!

Until next time!
